649 – Recceswinth, son of King Chindasuinth of the Visigoths, was declared co-ruler alongside his father in order to establish a hereditary monarchy.
Recceswinth would rule as de-facto leader alongside his aging father until the latter's death in 653.
1236 - Eleanor of Provence became Queen consort of England after her marriage to King Henry III on January 14th.
1265 – The Parliament of England brought in municipal representatives to serve alongside nobles for the first time.
1320 – Duke Wladyslaw Lokietek was crowned King of Poland after Pope John XXII granted permission the previous August.
1356 – Edward Balliol abandoned his claim to the Scottish throne, after many years of unsuccessful attempts to gain the throne by force.
1523 – King Christian II of Denmark was forced into exile in the Netherlands by the rebellious nobility of Denmark, being replaced as king by Fredrick I.
