506 – King Alaric II of the Visigoths, published a legal code called the Breviary of Alaric or Lex Romana Visigothorum (“Roman Law of the Visigoths”).



880 – Battle of Luneburg Heath (or Battle of Ebstorf), Saxony: an army under King Louis III of France was defeated by the "Great Heathen Army" or "Great Danish Army".



962 – Otto I was crowned Holy Roman Emperor by Pope John XII.



1032 – Conrad II, Holy Roman Emperor, became king of Burgundy.



1141 – Battle of Lincoln, England: King Stephen of England was defeated and captured by an army allied with Empress Matilda.



1207 – Terra Mariana ("Land of Mary") or Livonia, was created after the Livonian Crusade had taken the region now occupied by Latvia and Estonia.



1438 – Nine leaders of the Transylvanian peasant revolt were executed at Torda, Transylvania.



1461 – The Battle of Mortimer's Cross: a Lancastrian army under Owen Tudor and his son Jasper was defeated by a Yorkist

army led by Edward, Earl of March. Owen Tudor was killed.
